This course is part of the Pathfinders Summer Institute 2024. It is designed to be 40 hours of synchronous and asynchronous learning per the course details below. K-12 public and charter school educators and public librarians who are eligible will receive a full scholarship to participate. As part of the registration process, all applicants are required to complete an acceptance letter signed by the K12 educator/librarian and the principal/administrator of their school or library. This is a mandatory requirement. PD providers will manage this entire process on behalf of the Foundation and will share the letter once you have been accepted into the course.

The Introduction to Computer Science with MakeCode Arcade curriculum is a full academic year course designed to be taught as an introductory programming class. The curriculum is free and uses web-based technology and tools that can be accessed across platforms and devices. The original TEALS version of this course has been successfully implemented in hundreds of high schools, and applicable lessons-learned have been incorporated into this new release.
Teachers will receive valuable information around teaching this course, as well as tips on using MakeCode Arcade in general, using AI for creative and modern lesson ideas, and around teaching CS in a fun and responsible way. Participants who finish the course will receive a goodie bag of computing treats, along with several virtual resources.
